iOS 13 Will Add Support for Hong Kong’s Octopus Card

The NFC chip inside iPhones is going to get a lot more useful once iOS 13 lands. Apple is opening up the NFC chip to developers on a per-app basis with iOS 13 which has led governments to apps and systems to add iPhone support. The latest one to join the list is Hong King’s Octopus payment system.

While there has been no official announcement from any Hong Kong body regarding this, Ata Distance has found snippets of code in Apple Pay in iOS 13 beta which hints at impending support for Octopus cards in Hong Kong.

While iOS 13 is going to be available for iPhone 6s and up, the new NFC-related functionalities are only going to be available on the iPhone 7 and newer.

Octopus cards are extremely popular in Hong Kong and are used by people for any kind of retail transaction or for public transport payments. It is based on the same FeliCa standard that is used by Japan’s Suica card.

The U.K. and the Japan government have already confirmed that post iOS 13, iPhones will be able to read NFC tags in Japanese and British passports. Similarly, the German government has also confirmed that iPhones running iOS 13 will be able to read all German ID cards including residence permits, biometric passports, and more.Read more:tamildbox alternatives

Hong Kong Customs Officials Raid Yields Counterfeit iPhone Parts

Customs officials have seized counterfeit parts worth $120,000 in a raid on a Hong Kong repair shop. According to the officials, the repair shop was using counterfeit parts to fix broken devices including iPhone for international clients.

The Custom officers conducted the raid in lunchtime at an industrial unit in Tuen Mun. The facility was being used as a workshop and a warehouse to store counterfeit goods. Apparently, the business operated by fixing iPhones sent from as far as Australia, the U.S, and the United Kingdom. Once received, the iPhones were fixed by using fake parts and sent back to the client via airmail.

The warehouse in question spread across 5,000 sq ft and officials recovered 3,900 counterfeit phones and some machinery to carry out the repairs. It is further reported that three workers were hired to carry on the repairs, however, the local workers were not arrested.

According to the report from the South China Morning Post, Investigating officers had received a tip-off from a trademark owner a month ago. The entire operation passed under the radar as the company was only servicing international clients. Meanwhile, the repair work included replacing cracked screens and other physical damages.
Our Take

Apple products are among the world’s most counterfeited brands. The Hong Kong raid haul is not surprising considering the large volume of counterfeit iPhones that flood the market. The worst part is that counterfeit iPhones might pass on a genuine one to an untrained eye.

While you can still spot a counterfeit iPhone, it is not easy to spot a counterfeit part since it is fitted inside an iPhone. In a majority of cases, second-hand phone dealers send the devices to overseas and get it repaired at a ridiculously low price, despite the shipping fees. It is always preferable to buy refurbished iPhones from Apple’s Certified Refurbishing and as far as repairs are concerned it is better to head over to your nearest authorized dealer.

7 New Mac Notebooks Registered by Apple in Eurasian Database

Apple has registered seven new Mac models with the Eurasian Economic Commission database. Apple registers new Macs and devices with the EEC ahead of their release in the Eurasian region.

The new models registered by Apple include:

A2141

A2147

A2158

A2159

A2179

A2182

A2251

The filling from Apple points to all these new models being portable computers. Given that Apple has already unveiled its 2019 refresh of the MacBook Pro lineup, it is possible that we are looking at a potential 12-inch Retina MacBook refresh which was last updated in 2017. If refreshed, the 12-inch MacBook will likely come with faster chips from Intel for better performance. It is not expected to receive any other meaningful update.

It is also possible that we are looking at a refresh of the non-Touch Bar MacBook Pro models but the chances of that happening are relatively slim.

Apple and other companies are required to register their new and upcoming devices with the Eurasian database before they can release it to the public in Armenia, Belarus, Russia, and other countries which are a part of Eurasia.

Over the last year or so, in most cases when Apple registers new products with the EEC, it goes ahead and unveils them within a few weeks. This likely means that we should see Apple announce the refreshed 12-inch Retina MacBook in July.

Are you looking forward to a 12-inch MacBook refresh?

How to Bypass FRP on Samsung Galaxy S8 without PC (May Not Work)

How to Bypass FRP on Samsung Galaxy S8 without PC (May Not Work)

As you know, FRP was a Google creation for its Android OS for protection purpose. Some sites claim that the steps below can be used to bypass FRP on Samsung S8 successfully. But when I try, I found it difficult to figure it out and the lock was not fixed finally. If you would like to try, just follow:

Step 1: Open your Samsung S8 and try to set it up. Make sure you connect your Samsung S8 to a Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Go back to the Samsung welcome page, open TalkBack with 2 fingers.

Step 3: Select EMERGENCY CALL at the bottom.

Step 4: Call 112. Quickly double click on the “+” icon.

Step 5: Press the Power and Volume Up button at the same time to turn off TalkBack.

Step 6: Tap Add to contacts from the list menu.

Step 7: Create a new contact and save it.

Step 8: Then go to the contacts list to click the contact you added.

Step 9: Click to send a new message. In the message field, type www.youtube.com and send it.

Step 10: Simply tap the message and it will open the Youtube app.

Step 11: Click the link in the description and it will open the Google Chrome app.

Step 12: Open the page: https://frpbypass.net/download-frp-tools-free-bypass-frp-apk-pc-tools/ and download the Apex Launcher. Also Read:15 Game Torrenting Sites to Download Games in 2019

Step 13: On Google Chrome, go to Bookmarks > History > Download History and install the Apex Launcher on your device. Open the apk when it has installed.

Step 14: Go to Settings > Lock screen security > Other security settings device > Administration on your device.

Step 15. Turn the “Find My Device” off.

Step 16: Then go back to Settings and click on Apps.

Step 17: Tab on the 3 dots and select Show system apps.

Step 18: Go to Google Account Manager > Storage > Clear Data and disable it.

Step 19: Go to Google Play Services > Storage > Manage Storage > Delete All Data and disable it.

Step 20: Now, you can download and install the bypass FRP apk on your device.

Step 21: Go to Settings > Cloud & accounts > Add account > Google.

Step 22: Sign in with your Gmail account and confirm it.

Step 23: Then go to Settings > Apps > Disabled > Enable Google Play Services.

Step 24: Finally, restart your Samsung Galaxy S8 and activate the FRP bypass.
Cons of This Method:

It’s a long and somehow complicated process of bypassing Samsung FRP lock. This is the major reason that stops most users using this method.

This method doesn’t work for all Samsung devices. It’s just for some specific models.

iOS 13 Introduces New 'Optimized Battery Charging' Feature

Apple in iOS 13 introduced a new "Optimized Battery Charging" feature, which is designed to extend the total battery life of your iOS device.

Found in the Battery section of Settings under "Battery Health," the optional toggle learns from your personal habits and waits to finish charging all the way up until you need your iPhone.

For example, if you often charge your phone up at night while you sleep, Apple might charge it to 80 percent right away, but wait until an hour or so before you wake up to charge the remaining 20 percent.

That keeps your iPhone at an optimal capacity for battery health, rather than keeping it close to 100 percent on the charger.

Avoiding topping up the battery continually while it sits on the charger reduces the amount of time that your device spends at maximum capacity, and over time, this could extend the life of your battery.

Battery health has been a hot topic over the course of the last year, after Apple was found throttling the processor speeds of iOS devices with degraded batteries to prolong device life as long as possible.

That issue spurred Apple to be more forthcoming about overall battery health, providing details about capacity and performance in the Battery portion of Settings. Aside from the new toggle to optimize charging, there are no major changes to the Battery Health feature in the first iOS 13 beta. Also Read:Best free Beat making software
